MY BACKGROUND
Originally from Waitara in Taranaki New Zealand, I grew up with a keen sense of adventure. I played rugby and loved the ocean. Surfing became a passion as did photography.
in 1989 while backpacking around the world, I witnessed and photographed the fall of the Berlin Wall. That experience and others eventually led me to a degree in filmmaking and history at Ilam School of Fine Art in Christchurch New Zealand. I also began working for TVNZ at that time. From directing and editing at art school to filming news, current affairs, commercials, studio content and live OBs at TVNZ, I had a superb introduction to the craft.
In 1998 I moved to London where I’m still based with my wife Shirley.
I’ve travelled the world and filmed in some of the worlds most challenging and fascinating locations. I’ve had the privilege of working with many amazing and inspiring people and my passion still burns strong. I love collaborating on ideas and am always looking at how to become a better storyteller and a master of light.
